So, er, May's Monthly Mix didn't happen. I have an excuse: Ania and I got married. Brilliant but small civil wedding in Henley in May -- the big wedding in Poland is still to come later this month.

After a month's break (sorry 'bout that -- been busy!) we're back in action this month with a return to the funky tip, and mostly quite chilled this month. Bunch of new tracks, some hot selections from Black Coffee, that Yellowtail track that's all over the pirates, and the original mix of Poison. Enjoy.

This month we're celebrating not just the start of a brand new year, but also one whole year of The Monthly Mix! This month's edition sees us digging into the CD racks for something on a bit of a different tip. Hold onto that chalice and turn up your sub, because we're going deep into dub.

So it's twelve o'clock on Sunday, and I've crawled out of bed and watched the show from last night, duets and all. It's the final week, the bets are down, my last chance to claw my way into positive figures.

Since I'm still 17.50 down in my X-Factor betting, it would be nice if the odds this morning showed a clear path towards a heathly profit of, say, 20 quid or so. But a quick look at the betting websites confirms the impression I got last night over a glass of Glenlivet 15: there's no money to be made.

As any man should, I spend a good part of my waking hours making and inventing cocktails: testing different combinations of curious spirits and liqueurs. Every man must do his duty.
